Table grape production today require high grape quality levels established as result of customer preferences and continues production to satisfy large-scale distribution every year. Hail can cause significant damages in table grape production. Beside direct damages, hail causing secondary losses in coming years due to breaking of young canes, reduction in assimilation surface and increasing susceptibility to pests and diseases.

Next to direct mechanical protection, anti-hail nets affects vineyard microclimate and create some benefits. Net transparency allows the heat storage in soil during  the day.
This heat is released during the night in vineyard.

These effects gives an higher vegetative uniformity and a better budding and bunches growth. The benefits increase if growers provide to close the lateral sides due to wind speed reduction.

Table grape is very attractive for birds as source of water, sugar and different nutrients. Furthermore as a rich source of vitamins berries are necessary for maintaining of  birds eyesight. Big isolated plantations in monoculture are specially vulnerable and damages can be measured by entire production.

The simple solution for this problem is application of anti-bird nets. BIOBRDS can be placed on the lateral openings of tunnels, on support structures in case of open field or directly on plants.

The right choice of the net (less or more thick) depends to the varieties cultivated and to the production area. For example varieties with high vigour and large tendrils production like seedless grapes need to be protected using thicker net to avoid the tendrils passage through the net. Installation of low thickness net on those varieties usually cause problems during winter closing operations.
