Giuseppe Iuele, horticulturist, who in his garden company has adopted Robuxta screens by Arrigoni
Poinsettia is one of the most characteristic flowers of the end of year holidays, but also one of the most delicate. This does not only depend on the peculiarities of the plant, but also on the way in which it is grown.
Agronomists of Arrigoni have in fact knows that the application of the screens of the Robuxta® range, characterized by a high resistance to abrasion, are able to ensure compliance with different parameters of this type of plant and are perfectly suited to the installation with automated system. They can therefore favor a harmonious and luxuriant growth of Euphorbia pulcherrima, known precisely as the “Christmas Star”.
The direct testimony comes from Giuseppe Iuele, owner of the homonymous garden company in San Marco Argentano, in the province of Cosenza, which annually produces about 20 million garden plants, 100 thousand poinsettias and other 400 thousand pots on a total surface of 40 thousand square meters. of flowers.
“We have the greatest needs in summer – explains Giuseppe – when we need to have controlled light (our requirement is about 32,000 lux) and to cool the greenhouse environment. In the past, we used whitener to knock down the light and we were forced to make more passes on the greenhouses. Now, with Arrigoni’s Robuxta network, we have solved our problems ”.
The added value of Iuele’s plant is also the automation: a computer regulates the opening and closing of the Robuxta® screens according to the weather conditions.
Vincenzo Mercuri of the Lamezia Serre company in Lamezia Terme (CS), who built the shielding structure, adds: “Arrigoni’s Robuxta® sheet is heavier and more rigid than those we have always installed. The final result was really excellent and we experienced first hand how much the quality of this material, tested over the years, is suitable for a similar type of crop “.
Characterized by a thermo-reflective function, Arrigoni’s Robuxta screens are specifically designed for use on tensile structures. Chains and wefts are made with monofilament, while the second weft is in tape. This additional monofilament protects the weft tapes and prevents the latters from coming into contact with the cables of the traction structures, avoiding damage. The white color reflects some of the infrared light, which is responsible for high temperatures. Due to the reflection, temperature below the screen is significantly reduced. Nevertheless, temperature management increases water saving efficiency by 20 – 30% and the LD – Light Diffusion additive used in the strip provides more PAR light (photosynthetically active radiation), useful for plant photosynthesis.
