Sustainability, social and environmental responsibility for the Arrigoni group: A shared experience at the Sustainability Seminar.

As President of Sachim S.r.l. part of the Arrigoni S.p.A Group, yesterday I had the privilege of sharing the experience of our company. In fact, I was invited to take part in a seminar for young students of the University of Bari on sustainability and corporate social responsibility. I always find it interesting to disclose the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) strategies that we have embraced and the progress that we have made thanks to them in the Innovative Agrotextiles sector. For this, I certainly thank Professor Giuseppe Starace, speaker with me and Research Manager at Arrigoni and above all Professor Marinetta Intonti, for involving us in this very interesting initiative of hers.

As mentioned, I’m always excited to present our company and our commitment to sustainability.

It is – I hope – well established how our innovative, carefully designed agrotextiles can improve agriculture by increasing crop yields, reducing pesticide use and optimizing environmental conditions for plant growth; but there was something more important to share: the positive environmental impact of Arrigoni agrotextiles.

Although they are made of plastic, their use actually helps reduce the carbon footprint of human activity.

Through a calculation based on the production of CO2eq, we have shown how 100 grams of Arrigoni agrotextiles, used to cover an average of 1.5m² of vegetable cultivation, allow the fixation of a significant quantity of carbon over the ten years of life of the agrotextile, such as to compensate and finally exceed the CO2 emissions necessary to produce the fabric.

Not only the environment, but also ethics, integrity and transparency

But ESG isn’t just about the environment or sustainability, it’s also about social responsibility for Arrigoni. That’s why we talked about our commitment to employee safety, creating a truly inclusive and diverse work environment. Without forgetting, of course, how we comply with laws and regulations, working to create a corporate culture based on integrity, ethics and transparency. ESG is a philosophy that permeates every aspect of our operations.

Finally, it is hopeful to see young minds determined to make a difference in the world. This experience must change our approach. ESG is more than a corporate responsibility, it’s a mission that we must share with the new generations. We must commit to working together to address the environmental and social challenges ahead.

Lastly, I would like to thank Donatella Toni, Program Manager of PUGLIA SVILUPPO S.P.A. for her brilliant intervention – witness of the passion she puts into her work – and for her words of praise towards our company. My esteem for your team was already very high and it has strengthened!

My commitment is to continue to lead the innovative agrotextile sector towards a sustainable future and to listen to the voices of young people. Together, we can make a difference and build a better world.
